Cupcakes are yummy, right? Just thinking about them makes my mouth water. That sugary sweet cake-y goodness that seems to melt in your mouth.
Well, what would you say if I handed you a cupcake and told you it was made with breast milk. Would you eat it then?
Ok, I'm a mom. I tried the breastfeeding thing for a whole, oh, two weeks. Yeah, it didn't last long. Even though it didn't pan out for this momma, I still highly admire those who do nurse. And who do it for a long period of time.
Ouch. My nipples hurt just thinking about it.
I have to tell you, though, as I was surfing the web for some good dessert recipes and "breast milk cupcakes" popped up, I honest to goodness thought it was a joke. And then I started reading about moms who actually serve these breast milk cupcakes to guests-one served them to 3o children at her daughters birthday party! I'm still not quite sure what I think about it. On one hand, it's milk. Milk is, even if it comes from humans, milk-right?
But then there's that other part of me screaming, " but it's breast milk!!" It just seems wrong. But is it? I don't know. What do you think? Are you up for some breast milk cupcakes?
Just call me naive. But isn't breastmilk a bodily fluid? And isn't diseases such as Hepatitis and Aids spread through bodily fluids? I don't know the answer to these questions, but if my child was given a breastmilk cupcake, I might freak out. But, if the CDC and my pediatrician said that it was okay, and a good idea....then I would tell that momma to start mass producing her breastmilk cupcakes.

um no... I am not upo for "breast milk cupcakes"... If a mom wants to make them for her brood them okay... but I don't want one!
