Kids are amazing: What Has Your Child Done Lately?

Hunter is 16 months old now, and  I'm simply amazed at how fast he's growing, learning, doing.

No longer does my little man wake up crying.  He now sits up and carries on baby babble conversations with his favorite cushy -soft stuffed animal, Winnie the Pooh.   This morning I decided to hang out in bed to listen to him for a few extra minutes.  I was shocked, to say the least.  Out of his mouth, clear as day, came "Winnie the Pooh" and "poo-poo di-dey".  I had to strain my ears-at first I thought it was just a fluke.

"Nahhh."  I told myself. "I just thought I heard that".

  Nope.

He spoke both words over again a few more times, just as he had the first time.

I've been working on his vocabulary with him on words like "please", "thank you", but not necessarily "Winnie the Pooh" and "poo-poo di-dey".  In fact, he's never said them before-EVER, to the best of my knowledge. In retrospect, I guess I do say those words quite a bit.  Winnie the Pooh comes into the crib for every "noonies", as we call naps and going to bed at night.  And whenever Hunter has a poopie diaper, I say it.  Come to think about it, I even sing songs about it.

Sure enough, when I walked into his room, Winnie the Poo was propped up against the rungs of his crib and he was holding his crotch.

Indeed, I did get a "poo-poo di-dey" surprise.

What have your kids done to shock or amaze you?  Go ahead and brag it up-tell me about that moment in your child's life that made you go "wow".

  1. That is an adorable picture!

The other day Mikey Bear surprised me when he got in trouble because he should have been more careful around his sister. Then he says "Sorry baby. Hugs." And reaching out and gave her a hug and kiss. My heart melted.

  2. Ah, with older children, the past two days have been teaching #5 (he is 19) how to deal with medical professionals on his own. Get his own appointment, pre-registration for the MRI at the hospital, follow up calls. It is something that I never thought about until #2 had to have his appendix removed while living four hours away at college and I couldn't get information from the insurance company as he hadn't signed a release saying I could.

  3. That's so cute!! I'll brag it up - my 10 month old took his first steps at 9 1/2 months and is now walking all over at 10 months. Kinda makes me sad though because he's my last baby and he's growing up so fast. Wish we could just slow them down a bit.
